Missing F-Secure icon

Missing F-Secure icon

Summary

This article provides information about an issue where the F-Secure icon is missing from the bottom-right corner of the screen.

Problem description

You cannot see the F-Secure icon on the system tray. One possible reason for the missing F-Secure icon is that your explorer.exe process, i.e. the operating system process, may have just crashed and at the same time your F-Secure icon also disappeared.

Solution

To solve the problem:

Browse to Program Files > F-Secure > Common.
Click FSM32.exe to get the icon back.
If this does not help, restart your computer.

More Information

If the above does not solve the issue, check that the following registry key exists:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]
“F-Secure Manager”=”\”C:\\Program Files\\\\Common\\FSM32.EXE\” /splash”
Also, check the following registry keys:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer\DisableLocalMachineRun
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer\DisableCurrentUserRun
These keys might prevent fsm32.exe from running at startup.
